Socially Conscious Yoga
Conceived in the aftermath of bushfires and a pandemic, Local Yoga provides free and accessible yoga classes, online classes, workshops and events to encourage support and awareness for Canberra’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service.
Helping your yoga practice contribute to something bigger than yourself.
Our Sunday morning classes are kicking off on 1 November!
Hang out after class and chat in the morning sun - spend some quality time connecting with your mat buddies and teacher.
Classes start at 9am every Sunday from 1 November 2020 - 28 March 2021. No bookings required but it is first in first served. We also have a wet weather contingency to ensure classes are never cancelled.
While all our classes are offered free of charge, we encourage those with the means to consider donating to Canberra's Domestic Violence Crisis Service
Our free online library includes classe half hour and hour long classes and caters for all levels - from beginners to advanced.
If you enjoy them, feel free to share or simply pay it forward by doing something positive to change the space around you for the better.
If you have the means, we encourage donations to our local community groups working to reduce partner and family violence.
MORE ABOUT LOCAL YOGA
Local Yoga was conceived as a practical way to support Canberrans in the aftermath of the 2020 bushfires and COVID pandemic. Not to be confused with a yoga studio, Local Yoga is a collection of local people, local spaces and local businesses committed to improving our local community’s mental and physical well-being through accessible yoga initiatives that directly raise awareness and support for local community services. Local Yoga provides free fundraising yoga classes – physical and online – in addition to events featuring yoga and live music, as a way to encourage Canberrans to use their own unique abilities to positively influence the space around them.
